Big air and Big Fun
Ever since I started skiing at five years old, I’ve been obsessed with it. Every televised Pontiac World Cup, every Winter Olympics I would sit myself down in front of television and drool over the amazing speed, skill, and precision of these athletes. I love the sport; its art in performance and endurance that takes years to master. Its free floating feeling as you rip down the rollers of a groomy. Its muscle-burning, heart-racing adrenaline of the rugged back-country. Most important the immense walls and high flying rush of the one and only half pipe.  Skiing has been my favorite sport to preform and view for as long as I can remember.
When I heard about the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival, I was hysteric. I was like an adrenaline junkie head banging to death metal while strapped to an electric chair with 10 thousand volts of electricity running through my body.
Oh ya, I was pumped.
I mean like how intense would it be? Okay do this for me. Imagine yourself standing on the brim of a half pipe… yes the brim 200 ft of pure entertainment and you have the seat that not even the prime minster of Canada would get. It is dark so the only thing that seems to be in world is you and whatever else is illuminated by the fluorescent flood lights that illuminate the course. Over the speakers the music roars, well what ever song you would think appropriate for this moment… not any country though, because country just doesn’t cut it. At the top of the in-ramp stands the athlete, in deep concentration, totally oblivious to the mammoth crowd around him. He has one thing in mind and one thing only: Destroy that half pipe. He pushes off from the start gate, gaining speed, faster, faster, BOOM! Ha ha I scared you.
Up the left half then down gliding elegantly to the right. Whoosh, you feel his tail wind as he blasts up and over your head in an ever so beautiful back flip 480. Your camera flashes wildly as you capture this perfect moment on film or card — whatever you prefer.
