CRV is the new Accord
We are officially a two-car family. Back home, we could get away with just one car since public transit was, for the most part, pretty reliable. Two wheels, a couple peddles and a bike seat was much more reliable though….;). When we conceded that we would have to submit to suburbian living, we knew a second car was a must. So we went car shopping yesterday just to do some research. Apparently though, there is this thing called the recession that is really hitting car dealerships hard so they really do their best to offer great deals, and as such, makes it hard to leave the dealership without spending thousands of dollars. We started out at a Subaru dealership and was pretty much set on a Legacy. It was a sweet ride and they were going to give us a great lease deal on a 2011 model. Then Robin thought it would be a good idea to “just check out the Honda dealer” to see what they have. To make a long story short. We went into the Honda dealer looking for an Accord and drove away with a brand spankin’ new 2010 Honda CRV LX 4WD. We had never even considered another SUV (our Jeep Liberty served that purpose) because we thought we would just be priced right out, but the sales person really made it hard to walk away. It didn’t hurt his cause that he was a grandpa and was happy to try to get Ivy to laugh. He was also originally from the norf-side (of Chicago…but was a White Sox fan….wierd) and in fact, had some childhood injuries treated at the same hospital that Robin went to school. It’s a small world after all. We got a great 36 month lease, which is perfect because in three years, we just bring it back to the dealer, drop it off and we don’t have to worry about taking two cars back to Chicago or trying to sell one before we move back.
