Severance: Part V - Monochrome

&Nbsp;   Leon’s best-laid plans usually had some sense of fallibility to them. He thought on the fly, flowing with whatever was already forcing itself upon him, turning nothing into something worth doing, making good on every slip and mistake. When something crossed his tactical path, be in a sort of hiccup or a total derailment, its effect was always temporary but its resonance within him was all but permanent.     A long sigh deflated him as he looked out the tiny, filthy old window just a bit too low in the wall. Squinting into the yellow light trying to fight its way in, he made out the blurry shapes of moving figures in the road. He had a view of the humble, meager marketplace, which instilled him with a greater sense of sadness than it did interest. These people lived in near squalor. They scraped their way through their lives, living on whatever small amount happened to fall into their laps.     His shoulders sank another inch at his extended consideration of the townspeople. In a strange way he was here on their behalf, but mainly, it was his duty to turn the blindest eye he could manage towards them. Somewhere in their ranks, it was possible, was someone with dastardly intentions. Still, the plight of the unfortunate wasn’t something he ever liked to ignore.     The sound of quick footsteps up the creaky stairs that led to his makeshift office made him turn, though disinterestedly. He was unsurprised to see Hakim, the captain of the BSAA team assigned to the potential issue in the region. Though it was easy to see that Hakim and everyone underneath him was eager to follow protocol and do their part for their organization, the fingers of boredom were starting to tighten their grip.     “I’m assigning patrol locations,” he stated in his heavily-accented, no-nonsense calm tone.
