Trailers may slowly become the biggest heap of metal glittering out in the sun, generally in an individual’s driveway, if they aren’t taken care of. Largely it is the total of a bunch of small things which prohibit you from using your utility trailer. Wash your trailer with luke warm water. Note that most trailers are finished off with several coats of auto paint and sealant, so use soap that is specially formulated to be light on auto finishes. Doing this can shelter the metal parts of it from the elements and will stop rusting. Touch it up, even if it’s simply a tiny thing, as it will always build over time. Â
Keep up with your trailer’s mechanical parts by greasing up the joints and axles. Do some greasing, particularly before taking it back onto the road. Dirt is your trailer’s biggest enemy, because it causes friction plus breakdown. Lubricate options such as the winch, ball hitch, springs plus tongue jack. One of the most vital elements to grease are the wheel bearings, the cylindrical rings that connect the wheel to the axle plus permit the trailer wheel to freely rotate. Â
