We had an early start yesterday at the Broadway Drive-in movie theater near Dickson, Tennessee. It took about an hour to drive to the location, the scenery was beautiful green rolling hills, it was nice to see some of the countryside outside of Nashville. I almost had a heart attack when I arrived at the drive-in’s movie theater because the words that I had asked to be put on the marquee weren’t up. I panicked and thought that I had gone to the wrong theater, which could have been possible because April, my location guru, and IВ had been debating about which theater to use. Then I saw the amazing red 1950’s Cadillac glistening in the distance, phew I was in the right place.В Patty Loveless, wants her ultimate musical performance to be at a drive-in, (that is one of my seven questions from the book), hence the location. Larry Jo the man in charge ofВ the drive-in arrived and helped us reword the marquee, which was rather cathartic. I could do this for a job, I thought at least it would be stress free unless I needed two letter z’s. Ms. Loveless thought it would be interesting to have the names Viva Las Vegas and Love me Tender as the films that would have been playing, to give the photo a vintage feel. It was 97 degrees and we were dying, thank goodness Lance the motor home man had Gatorade galore and tons of water.В We had quite a major lighting set up and the car rental man David drove aВ Dodge Viper to the shoot, so tons of people were honking when they drove by, which was hilarious.
I keep getting asked for some snaps, so here are some of me at the location, don’t laugh please.
